Description
Indications
Used for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin C and Zinc deficiencies. It is indicated for:
-
Immune Support: Boosting the body’s natural defense against colds, flu, and other viral or bacterial infections.
-
Wound Healing: Assisting in the synthesis of collagen and the repair of tissues after injury or surgery.
-
Antioxidant Protection: Protecting cells from damage caused by free radicals and environmental stress.
-
General Wellness: Maintaining healthy skin, cartilage, and bones, and supporting metabolic functions.
Dosage and Administration
-
Adults and Adolescents (12 years and older): Take 1 capsule once daily.
-
Dose Adjustment: In cases of severe deficiency or as part of a recovery protocol, a physician may recommend increasing the dose to 2 capsules daily for a limited period.
-
Administration: Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water. While it can be taken on an empty stomach, taking it with or after a meal is recommended for those with sensitive stomachs to prevent gastric irritation.
Adverse Reactions
When taken at the recommended dosage, side effects are rare. However, high doses may cause:
-
Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, or heartburn (typically due to the acidity of Ascorbic Acid).
-
Renal: Long-term excessive intake of Vitamin C may increase the risk of developing kidney stones (calcium oxalate) in susceptible individuals.
-
Other: Metallic taste in the mouth (associated with Zinc) or headache.
Important Safety Precautions
-
Avoid Overdosage: Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Excessive Zinc intake over long periods can interfere with the absorption of copper, leading to copper deficiency.
-
Renal Health: Use with caution if you have a history of kidney stones or chronic kidney disease.
-
Drug Interactions: Vitamin C can increase the absorption of iron; while often beneficial, individuals with iron-overload diseases (like hemochromatosis) should consult a doctor. Zinc may interfere with the absorption of certain antibiotics (e.g., tetracyclines and quinolones) and should be taken at least 2 hours apart from these medications.
-
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place (below 30°C) and protect from direct light and moisture to prevent the oxidation of Vitamin C.
-
Pregnancy and Nursing: This supplement is generally safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when used at recommended levels, but consult a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement.
