Adverse Reactions
Paracetamol is generally very well-tolerated when taken at the recommended dosage. Side effects are rare but may include:
-
Dermatological: Rare instances of skin rash, itching, or hives.
-
Gastrointestinal: Minor stomach upset or nausea.
-
Serious Reactions (Rare): Severe skin reactions (such as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome) or liver damage (typically only associated with overdose).
Important Safety Precautions
-
The “Paracetamol Limit”: Do not take this medication with any other products containing paracetamol (e.g., certain cold and flu syrups, sinus medications, or other pain relievers). Overlapping these products can lead to an accidental overdose.
-
Liver Warning: Severe liver damage may occur if you take more than the maximum daily dose (4,000 mg), take it with other paracetamol-containing drugs, or consume 3 or more alcoholic drinks daily while using this product.
-
Alcohol Restriction: Chronic or heavy alcohol consumption significantly increases the risk of paracetamol-induced liver toxicity.
-
Pre-existing Conditions: Consult a doctor before use if you have impaired liver or kidney function.
-
Pregnancy and Nursing: Paracetamol is generally considered the first-choice pain reliever during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but it should still be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary.
-
Persistent Symptoms: If pain lasts more than 10 days or fever lasts more than 3 days, stop use and consult a physician.
