Important Safety Precautions
-
Drowsiness Warning: Diphenhydramine is a first-generation antihistamine with strong sedative effects. Strictly avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or performing dangerous tasks while using this medication.
-
Alcohol Restriction: Do not consume alcohol while taking this syrup, as it will dangerously increase the sedative effects on the central nervous system.
-
Drug Interactions: Avoid use with other antihistamines (including topical creams/ointments) or sedatives/tranquilizers unless directed by a physician.
-
Pre-existing Conditions: Consult a doctor before use if you have glaucoma, asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate.
-
Elderly Patients: Older adults are more sensitive to the side effects (dizziness and confusion), which may increase the risk of falls.
-
Pregnancy and Nursing: Consult a healthcare professional. Diphenhydramine is excreted in breast milk and may inhibit lactation or cause irritability/drowsiness in the nursing infant.
